Your First Visit —

Let us take the guesswork out of what to expect

Key Information to Review Prior to Your First Visit

Please take a few minutes to review the information below so you know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to get the most out of your first + follow up appointments.

  • Forms & Intake

    • Please complete your intake forms 24 hours before your appointment.

    • This allows us to review your information and use your visit time efficiently.

    • If forms are incomplete, appointment time may be reduced.

    What to Wear

    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for movement and easily rolls past your elbows and knees.

    • Shorts and tank tops are ideal, but we do have drapes to keep you covered if needed.

    Eating & Hydration

    • Please be sure to eat beforehand (acupuncture on an empty stomach is not a good combo)

    • Hydrate well before and after your visits

    • Limit caffeine before your visit, especially if you’re sensitive to its effects

    • Where to Go

      • We are at 1200 Alpha Lake Road, Unit 204 in Function Junction - Above Forecast Coffee and Lordco. When you enter the building, take the elevator to the second floor, turn right, and we’re straight ahead - you can’t miss us.

      • Please arrive 5 minutes early to allow yourself time to settle in.

      • We dont have a receptionist — so come right in remove your shoes and get comfy in our waiting area - your practitioner will get you when they are ready.

    • Parking

      • Free parking is available in front of and behind the building. Availability can vary, so please allow a little extra time in case you need to find nearby parking.

    • Washrooms

      • Washrooms are located in the hallway to the right of our entrance. A key is required — it will be hanging up by the coats (just be sure to bring it back).

  • Your first visit includes a detailed assessment and treatment.

Your follow-ups include a more streamlined intake and reassessment, building on progress from past visits.

    We will:

    • Have a conversation about why you're coming in and what your goals for working together are.

    • Assess and identify structural and/or systemic patterns that may be at the root of your concerns.

    • Explain how we can help and offer treatment plan recommendations to get you feeling better.

    • Give you your first treatment based on what we found on the exam.

Please note - Treatments are guided by how your body is functioning, not just where symptoms are felt.

  • It’s normal to experience:

    • Temporary soreness, bruising or fatigue in treated areas can occur. Gentle movement and heat will help the recovery process.

    • Feeling tired or needing more rest is your body’s way of helping you recover. Listen to it!

    • Better sleep and digestion, improved mood, energy and mental clarity, and greater ease in your body are all signs the treatment is working.

    • We expect your symptoms to reduce and then return after visits. This is normal - your body needs time to adjust to a new way of functioning.

    • Over time, the symptom reduction will last longer and longer. This gives us insite on how frequently you need to come in, so take note of this.

If you have questions after your visit, please reach out or let us know at your next appointment.

For any severe symptoms, please seek medical care promptly.

Treatment Plans

For tangible results, you will likely need to see us more than once.

These kinds of modalities work best when you follow a consistent plan, just like going to the gym. We will work together to make small, compounding changes that, over time, will improve how your body functions at a deep level.

We find that most patients get the best results when they commit to a plan of about 12 visits. When a condition is new, it might take fewer visits, and if chronic, it can take longer - but over time, patterns unwind, and feeling good becomes your new normal. Ultimately, helping you graduate away from needing us at all!

  • If you are coming in with acute symptoms, 2 visits per week for the first 2 weeks or until acute symptoms subside is recommended. Once things are less acute, we will space visits out to Corrective Care at 1x/wk if needed.

  • When we are working to shift a pattern for long-term relief, visits 1x/wk for 10-12 weeks (or more importantly — until we achieve 2 consecutive weeks of symptom relief) is recommended. If you started with biweekly sessions, this will often speed up the process.

  • If you are feeling better and want to maintain your results, are managing chronic conditions that benefit from regular support, or want to establish a preventative health care routine, visits 1-2x/mo are ideal.

Preventive medicine is the best medicine.

Pro Tip — Pre-scheduling your full treatment plan ahead of time ensures availability and the best results. You can do this after your first visit.
