FAQ

  • Where are you located?

We’re inside Whistler Myofascial Release at 1420 Alpha Lake Road, Suite #202. Free parking is out front or around back — just look for spots 11–30 and head up to the second floor.

  • Do you offer direct billing?

Not at this time. But don’t worry — we provide detailed receipts you can submit to your insurance provider. Most patients are reimbursed within 1–7 business days.

  • Do I need a credit card on file?

Yes, a card is required to confirm your booking. After your visit, you’ll receive a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

  • What’s your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. This helps us offer the spot to someone else and avoid unnecessary fees. Late cancellations are charge 50%, no shows at 100%.

  • What should I wear to my appointment?

Think comfy and moveable — shorts and a tank top or sports bra work best. It helps us access and assess key areas, and makes the treatment more effective. Draping is always available if you need it.

  • How should I prepare before my visit?

Stay hydrated and eat a light snack before you come in. Aim to arrive 5 minutes early, and fill out your intake forms at least 24 hours ahead so we can review everything in advance.

  • What does a typical appointment look like?

Each session starts with a check-in and movement assessment, followed by hands-on treatment, needling, and time to rest with the needles in place. You’ll have a call button if you need anything.

  • What is orthopedic acupuncture?

Orthopedic acupuncture combines traditional needling with modern assessment to target muscle, joint, and nerve dysfunction. It’s especially effective for pain, injuries, and performance recovery.

  • What’s the difference between acupuncture and dry needling?

Dry needling restores the elasticity into tight tissues and stops pain from triggerpoints. Acupuncture often uses points away from the pain to regulate the nervous system and support whole-body healing.

  • What is electroacupuncture?

Electroacupuncture uses gentle electrical pulses to re-establish the firing sequence of muscles using motor points. It helps reduce pain, improve muscle function, and speed up recovery.

  • Does acupuncture or dry needling hurt?

You might feel a quick pinch, dull, ache, and/or muscle twitch — that’s totally normal and a good sign we’ve hit the right spot. Most people find the treatment deeply relaxing once the needles are in.

  • How long are appointments?

Most sessions are 40 minutes, but we focus on what your body needs — not just the clock.

  • How will I feel after treatment?

Expect to feel lighter, looser, and more mobile. Mild soreness is common, like post-workout fatigue, but it usually fades within 24–48 hours. Hydration, heat, and gentle movement help.

  • Will I get exercises or homework?

Yes — simple, targeted exercises or self-care tips are often part of your plan. These help reinforce the work we do in clinic and keep your progress moving between visits.

  • Can I work out after acupuncture?

Yes! Movement is great after treatment — just keep it pain-free. Gentle exercise, walking, or mobility work can actually help reinforce the changes we made.

  • How often should I come in?

That depends on your goals and the severity of your issue. Often we start twice per week at first, then taper off as things improve. For lasting results, consistency wins every time.

  • How many sessions will I need?

Most people start to feel a shift in 1–3 visits. Mild cases often resolve in 4–6 sessions, while more complex or long-standing issues may take 10–20. We then reccommend tune ups every 4-6 weeks.

  • How does acupuncture actually work?

To keep it simple — It stimulates the nervous system, releasing endorphins and boosting circulation to reduce pain and inflammation. It’s like flipping a reset switch for your body.

  • What conditions do you treat?

We focus on pain, performance, and recovery — from neck and back pain to nerve impingement, tendonitis, headaches, and post-surgical care — all with a whole-system, holistic approach.

  • How does acupuncture support women’s health?

Acupuncture helps regulate hormones, improve circulation, and reduce pain related to the pelvic floor, cycle irregularities, or postpartum recovery.

  • Can acupuncture help with stress or burnout?

Yes — by regulating the nervous system, acupuncture reduces stress, improves sleep, and supports recovery from burnout or overtraining.
